Help Us Reopen Antelope Butte

The Antelope Butte Foundation is a grassroots effort to reopen the Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area located in the Bighorn Mountains of northern Wyoming–as a year-round mountain recreation center!

Mountain sports offer children and families the opportunity to participate in physically and intellectually challenging activities. It introduces them to new and rewarding experiences, and provides them with supportive and caring relationships. The environment and activities at mountain recreation areas incorporate all the elements of healthy youth and positive family development.

Our community mountain recreation area will be a place where youth and beginners can learn a lifelong physical activity, increase their self-confidence, and begin an appreciation for the natural environment.

We make it local, we make it accessible, and we make it affordable. Please add your support to the “Open Antelope Butte” campaign.

Wyoming Business Council Awards Community Enhancement Grant

Big Horn County was awarded a grant to build a conveyer ski lift for beginner skiers at the Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area, opening up the area for more visitors and helping to develop interest in outdoor winter recreation.

Antelope Butte has been a part of the fabric of the communities since the 1950s. The reopening will increase the local economic activity, and will serve to make both Sheridan County and the Big Horn Basin more attractive to residents, prospective residents, and tourists.
